MP a central state sends 29 MPs to Lok Sabha (5%), hence its a very important state for next govt formation. BJP has been in power in the state for the last ten years and Shivraj S Chouhan recently got re-elected by thumping majority. He has done really well and MP once a Bimaru state has witnessed a lot of development.
MP was divided into 2 states in 2000 with Chattisgarh carved out as a new state. Chattisgarh took away 11 Lok Sabha seats from undivided MP.

2014 Lok Sabha Elections
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) spearheaded by Narendra Modi registered emphatic victory by bagging 27 out of 29 seats in the Madhya Pradesh. From Congress, Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia have managed to save their parliamentary seats in the state. BJP leader Sushma Swaraj fighting from Vidisha has also been elected by margin of 4,10,698 votes.
