2 years of Modi government celebrations

The PB Team

The Bhartiya Janta Party will be celebrating 2 years of it being in power on the 28th may, which will be hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. For the first time in 30 years, on 26th May, 2014 the BJP came to power with an absolute majority. Since then, we have seen a lot of hits and misses by them.

Kejriwal finally found the opportunity to follow the moral action of “tit-for-tat” accused them for spending around Rs. 1,000 crores for this one event and C.P. Joshi made a statement that 2019 will see a “Modi mukt Bharat”. Other than that, Congress has shown distaste in these affairs, but didn’t back off from accusing Amitabh Bachchan’s presence as a host in this event after his name was involved in the Panama paper’s case and the news never stops.

This event was indeed pretty helpful for the PR teams of almost every party as it provided a good platform for more controversial statements keeping their respective parties in headlines for a good advertisement if nothing else.

The show will be beamed across the country by Doordarshan which will highlight the major plans taken up by the party during the last two years, like, Digital India, MAke in India, Mann Ki Baat, Real Estate regulation, Bankruptcy code, Swachh Bharat Mission etc. The Delhi show will feature, apart from a number of other Bollywood stars like Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor and Prasoon Joshi, panel discussions on six focus areas of the government.

The event will not just be a celebration for a day, but it is followed by ministers fanning out across the country and spending the day addressing public meetings where beneficiaries of government schemes and intellectuals and experts will also gather. 33 teams will hold such interactions in 198 cities till June 15, starting from Friday.

This extravagant bash may have it’s pros and cons with a great many arguing about the same, but let us all agree that we haven’t had such a dandy Prime Minister for quite some time who brings along a gala where ever he goes.

A lot has been done and a lot more needs to be done. The polls show soaring Modi popularity clearly pointing out that they feel whatever has been done is much more than what has been done in the past….
