1. Rajan for new global pact to deal with monetary policy issues
Raghuram Rajan this time speaks of setting the world right, not setting the Indian economy right. He does not inform us how the world came to this pass. It all started with the discredited Bretton Woods. The main currency for settlement of transactions was accepted as USdollar, with the US promising to exchange the currency for gold at the rate of $35 per ounce. But the US reneged and the world was tossed into a long lasting crisis. Today gold is $1244.5 an ounce. Rajan seems to write a prescription before the diagnosis.
