Elections 2014

Elections are due in early 2014. UPA government has been in power for two consecutive terms and will seek a re-election. NDA is sniffing an opportunity because of the various scams during UPA regime and high / persistent inflation. Regional satraps are also trying to roll out a Third Front.

While BJP (largest party in NDA) has declared Narendra Modi (NaMo) as its PM candidate; Congress (largest party in UPA) is being unofficially led by Rahul Gandhi (RaGa / Baba), member of Gandhi scion. Powerful state politicians like Mulayam, Maya, Nitish, Mamta, Jaya also have prime ministerial ambitions.

The 2014 elections are expected to be nail biting with a clash of personalities (NaMo vs Baba). Its important for all of us to get a stable government voted to power. An unstable government will impact India’s image, economic prospects and credit rating which will have far reaching implications.

So it’s our duty to go out and vote, vote for the right candidate and party which will carry on good governance for the next 5 years.

Watch out this space for information on key political parties, their prospects and electoral dynamics in each state as a run up to the elections in 2014 (unless they happen earlier).

  1. Its NaMo from BJP side. Congress won’t name Baba officially as Chief Election Campaigner or PM candidate. If Congress wins they will attribute it to “Baba ka netritva (leadership)” and if it loses they will blame “kamjor sangathan”.

  2. Yes it’s very important that a big portion of population votes in 2014 elections.. But that’s the unfortunate thing about India, that a big portion of the population chooses to stay away from elections… And there is big probability that Congress will come back to power with their populist measures FSB, Direct Cash transfers, MNREGA etc… It will be very unfortunate if Congress comes back to power… BTW in your analysis you are not taking into consideration the role of AAP… It may become a force to reckon with in 2014 if it is able to get some significant votes in Delhi Elections…

    1. Thanks Ramesh. According to me AAP will have very limited role in national elections. They will play a role in Delhi assembly elections. That too they will eat into the votes of the Congress. I am not sure whether they will win significant no. of seats. The same will be covered when I cover the state of Delhi.
